Remedial Massage
Our approach to Remedial Massage
Your therapist will:
- talk with you about what you’re feeling
- assess movement and identify contributing areas
- treat the primary area and surrounding tissues
- adjust pressure based on your comfort
- provide guidance on how to support your body between sessions
We take a whole-body, movement-aware approach — because tightness rarely happens in isolation.
What to expect in your session
Your appointment will include:
- a brief discussion about what you’re feeling
- assessment of the affected area
- targeted hands-on treatment
- treatment to surrounding areas that may be compensating
- simple movement or self-care suggestions (if helpful)
Your therapist will check in with you throughout the session about preferred pressure and comfort levels.
Remedial Massage vs Deep Tissue vs Soft Tissue Massage
Here’s the simplest way to understand it:
- Soft tissue or deep tissue massage → general massage aimed at releasing tightness
- Remedial Massage → targeted massage focused on a specific area of discomfort, injury, or movement restriction
If you’re coming in because something hurts, feels restricted, or isn’t moving well, your treatment will generally be considered remedial — even if it includes general massage techniques.
Your therapist will tailor the treatment to your needs once they’ve assessed you.
